 Loring AFB, Maine Minimize

The guestbook has been discontinued and replaced with the Discussion Forums.  You can view the posts without registering, but will need to register if you would like to make any posts.  Enjoy

Enlisted Flying WingsThis page is dedicated to the Boomer's Association at Loring Air Force Base, Maine. This page is dedicated to all the people from Loring. Especially to the men, women, officer, enlisted, pilots, navigators, Boom Operators, and maintenance personnel of the 42d & 407th Air Refueling Squadrons.

I've been amazed at how many people have visited the page.  The guest book list many people from my era (88-92) but people have also signed who were stationed at Loring back in the 50's.  Boy, do I have respect for you guys.  You sure didn't have all the modern conveniences we had, and Loring can be a pretty harsh place.   Anyway, I'm glad to see folks visiting the page and I hope you're all doing well!

While I was there, we flew the KC-135A and R models come rain, shine, sleet or snow (mostly snow). We flew all around the world including places like Asia, Central America, Europe and the Pacific.  I've created a page, it's the first I've done in a while.  While rummaging through some old photos I discovered I had enough photos to give the highlights of a typical training mission out of Loring AFB.  So... visit the "Day in the Life" page.

If you'd like to post some pictures of Loring please visit the Photos Forum.  You must be registered to post pictures, but not to view them.

This page has a few pictures of old acquaintances and friends.  If you were at Loring around 91-92 there's a squadron photo of the 42nd and 407th.  Some old faces to view.

Here's a page I've worked on with some patches that you may remember.

For all the Boom Operators out there, or other crewmembers, you may want to visit the Altus Boom Web Site at http://www.altusboom.com.  Altus replaced Castle AFB, CA as the central training location for the KC-135's.  Another site which is up and running and currently hosting the boom list is http://www.worldwideboom.org/ .  They've got some great stuff so take a look.

If you have any interest in the C-141 or aircraft history, you must check out this web site.  It is by far, one of the most imformative I've seen.  http://www.c141heaven.com/
